The Author
Bart van Es is a literary critic and writer. He is a professor of English at the University of Oxford, where he is also a senior tutor and fellow of St Catherine's College. Van Es was born in the Netherlands and lived in Norway, Dubai and Indonesia before his family settled in the United Kingdom in 1986.
