David Attenborough - A Life on Our Planet (2nd Hand Hardback)
Synopsis
Subtitled : My Witness Statement and a Vision for the Future.
Sir David Attenborough is Britain's best-known natural history film-maker. His career as a naturalist and broadcaster has spanned nearly five decades and there are very few places on the globe that he has not visited.
"See the world. Then make it better.
I am David Attenborough. At time of writing, I am 93 years old. I've had an extraordinary life. It's only now that I appreciate how extraordinary.
As a young man, I felt I was out there in the wild, experiencing the untouched natural world - but it was an illusion. The tragedy of our time has been happening all around us, barely noticeable from day to day - the loss of our planet's wild places, its biodiversity.
I have been witness to this decline. A Life on Our Planet contains my witness statement, and my vision for the future - the story of how we came to make this, our greatest mistake, and how, if we act now, we can yet put it right.
We have the opportunity to create the perfect home for ourselves and restore the wonderful world we inherited.
All we need is the will do so."

External Reviews
"We can save this world. But will we bother? The earth is undergoing a human driven mass extinction event right now. The consequences of which will impact the survival of the blinkered human race itself. We can make a difference. We can survive and ensure the future. And if we don't . . . it will not be the end of the world. Humanity's hubris is thinking we are the world. The planet will survive us. It will turn. And new life will rise. From the darkness overwhelming me, I take comfort in that.
I also take comfort in sir David's hope. We can do it. We can make the changes needed as he says. I hope we can. I'd like to think the world will listen to a great man" - Goodreads Review.
'Read this book to learn, but also to honour the man. We shall never see his like again.' - Sunday Times.
