"Probably the track the group are most well known for is Guitar Man (and it is a classic track) but there are so many other fine songs to be found here. Dismal Day and London Bridge are two early gems showcasing David Gates voice and songwriting. James Griffin's guitar work is superb throughout this collection and he takes lead vocals on a few of the more rockier numbers (like Down On My Knees and Fancy Dancer). Everything I own is a classic Gates composition (and was later a hit for Boy George in 1987) and has been covered by numerous artists. There really is nothing to fault here (it's all wonderfully produced and performed easy listening/soft rock). For some reason though the track Aubrey has been replaced by Just Like Yesterday but it's a good song as well.
When The Sound of Bread was released in the UK it was an instant big seller (and even kept The Sex Pistols off the top spot) showing that even in an era when older acts were out of favour this genre of music still had a big audience."
"This is a collection of 20 fantastic songs from 'Bread'. This soft rock band were popular, having several hits, in the 1970's. Their music still sounds fresh today - featuring unique vocal talent, amazing musicianship, and artistic songwriting."- Google Reviews.
