Synopsis

Subtitled : "As Commemorated In The Sandhurst Companies."

A team of military historians (under the guidance of David Chandler, head of the War Studies Dept. at Sandhurst, the Royal Military Academy) chronicle 16 major battles, from Blenheim in 1704 to Burma in 1945.

Each battle is placed in its strategic context with a focus on the actions of the British forces and, when appropriate, the allies who fought with them.

Each chapter includes an annotated bibliography, and the volume is generously illustrated with maps, photographs, and paintings.
