External Reviews

"This is a beautiful album full of strong melodies, lush musicianship, and soaring idealism - worthy of a renaissance. Nowadays being political is seen as a token of credibility for music artists - why were artists in the 80's equally praised and lambasted for using their success as a platform for a voice, I never understand. Maybe it was Live Aid overkill. Revisit this album - a fitting end to the 80's from one of its finest bands."

". . . SM unleash Mandela Day, a song dedicated to the main man himself who was imprisoned by an outdated racist regime, who would be released 12 months after this song was released. I put it down to SM getting him released, it's no coincidence, is it? Not like he was innocent and wrongly imprisoned, nice work Jim, Charlie n co! Next up Belfast Child where SM go straight in with size nines addressing "The Troubles", which only a few years later along comes the Good Friday Agreement and things settle. Yet again, SM save the world, no coincidence! Next up Biko, a cover song about Steven Biko originally recorded by Peter Gabriel. All these three songs formed SM's first number one on the Ballad of the Streets ep, not my favourite songs but they got to number one in the UK finally! The album finally comes to an end with When Spirits Rise which is a perfect celtic tune that closes a near perfect album." - Google Reviews.
