Ben Collins (The Stig) - How To Drive (2nd Hand Hardback)
Synopsis
Subtitled : The Ultimate Guide - From The Man Who Was The Stig.
Welcome to the next chapter of your driving education.
Former Top Gear Stig, Ben Collins, shares expert skills and wisdom refined over a twenty-year career as one of the best drivers in the world - from Le Mans Series racing to NASCAR, piloting the Batmobile and dodging bullets with James Bond.
Ben's philosophy of anticipation, smoothness and speed, honed over thousands of hours of elite-level performance, is really about economy of motion - which also gives you greater control, safety and fuel efficiency. How To Drive is about driving better, not faster.
Whether you've been behind the wheel for the best part of thirty years or you bought your first L-plate ten seconds ago, this is the stuff your instructor missed, your dad forgot and your mates pretend to know . . . but don't.

"Every driver should be made to read this book. I've been driving a over 30 years and I take it, and the responsibility that comes with it, seriously. I am also motoring enthusiast and an enthusiastic driver and I have gained a great deal from the expert advice from an expert driver in this book. Also pleased to have many things I do when driving, along with much of my approach to it, confirmed as good practice. But who'd have thought the 'Stig' was such a good writer with such a dry sense of humour? This book, as well as enlightening any driver will also greatly entertain them and at times will slap you in the face with real life humour. Also enjoyed the many anecdotes of Ben's wide variety of experiences from Le Mans to that fantastic James Bond stunt driving. Buy it - it might just save your life, but it will certainly entertain you and will make you a better driver." - Google Review.
The Author
Ben Collins was born in Bristol before moving to California, where he competed as a junior Olympic standard swimmer. When a career as a fighter pilot was cut short by a visit to the optician, Ben switched to cars. He won races in every category from Formula Three to Le Mans Sportscars and GT, and captured the European ASCAR title. When a lack of funding curtailed his racing career, Ben joined the Army Reserves. He also worked as a Hollywood stuntman. In 2003 he became the anonymous fourth presenter, known as The Stig, of Top Gear, alongside Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond. On Top Gear he spent several years coaching celebrities, organizing car chases and testing hundreds of priceless cars. Now, his alter ego is recognized by millions around the world. Ben lives in the West country with his wife Georgie and three children.
