Janis Joplin - Pearl (2nd Hand Compact Disc) | Audio CD
Description
Pearl is the second and final solo studio album (and fourth album overall) by American singer Janis Joplin, released on January 11, 1971, by Columbia Records.
The album was released three months after Joplin's death on October 4, 1970. It was the final album with Joplin's direct participation, and her only album recorded with the Full Tilt Boogie Band, her final touring unit. It peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, holding that spot for nine weeks.
This is the sound of a legend - a raw rocking classic from Janis Joplin - arguably the most perfectly-formed record from her all-too-short run in modern music! There's a focus here that's even sharper than before - and a rising of the funky undercurrents that Janis always had in her music, matched with vocals that are some of the most soulful you could ever hope for.
Pearl has been certified quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It was ranked number 259 on Rolling Stone magazine's 2020 list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time".

External Reviews
"Although this is a posthumous release, this for me has the strongest set of songs that really showcase Janis's fantastic vocal range. From the emotional Me and Bobby McGee to the upbeat Move Over and the humorous Mercedes Benz - it all shows the variety and talent she had in her singing. There are a few different reissues of this album and it can be confusing as to which you're getting on some seller's listings. I purchased this one . . . which contains the original 10 tracks, plus four previously unreleased live ones: Tell Mama, Little Girl Blue, Try (Just a Little Bit Harder) and Cry Baby." - Amazon Review.
