The Author
Professor Geoffrey Wallis Stuart Barrow (28 November 1924 - 14 December 2013), universally known as G. W. S. Barrow, was an eminent English-born historian and academic. He is widely regarded as the most prominent scholar of medieval Scottish history of the 20th century. His ground-breaking work heavily focused on Scottish feudalism, the Normanisation of the Scottish Kingdom, and the reign of Robert the Bruce.
