Simple Minds - Glittering Prize (81/92) (2nd Hand Compact Disc)
Description
1992 collection from the Scottish New Wave veterans. Glittering Prize compacts the best of five albums into 16 tracks.
Because they were bigger critical and commercial successes, 1982's New Gold Dream, 1984's Sparkle in the Rain and 1985's Once Upon a Time are better represented than 1989's Street Fighting Years and 1991's Real Life.
The mid-'80s tracks remain classics to this day.

" It didn't take me long to realize though that for the Minds' first ever commercial hits package it was pretty solid, well balanced and put together for the years it was trying to capture - baring in mind that bands/artists tend to start with one CD compilations before going on to do more extensive ones further into their career, including more older as well as newer material, obviously. So yeah, we might all own their bigger, more comprehensive compilations, but for a fabulous, quick and easy listen, you can't go wrong with 'Glittering Prize 81/92'. Wonderful! "
"It seems that the huge success of "Don't You Forget About Me" eclipsed the work of this influential band for a long time. In fact, it still gets lots of radio play to this day, and deservedly so. But this collection illuminates Simple Minds as music artists who remained fresh and unique in their sounds as well as not trying to replicate their early successes and keep moving forward. They managed to extend themselves beyond the 80's into the 90's." - Amazon Reviews
